A youth cafe in Croxley Green has been given £1,750 to help pay for two new computers and training in how to use them.

County councillor Steve Drury gave the grant to Croxley Green Baptist Church, which runs the popular club.

Workshops including music production and homework clubs are now available to the club's 70 members.

Councillor for Croxley Green Steve Drury said: "As well as being a meeting venue for young people, the youth café provides a positive environment for them, and the new IT equipment and training is all part of that.

“The sessions will provide more opportunities for young people to build on existing skills and interest and develop new ones, which will benefit them in the longer term as well as the community of which they are a part."

Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, to provide money for social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire.

A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council.
