Innovative students from a Northwood school have been recognised for their business acumen by winning a competition.

At a glittering ceremony at the University of Hertfordshire, pupils from Merchant Taylors’ School were awarded title Young Enterprise Company of the Year for Hertfordshire for their company Xnapp.

The company, formed under the Youth Enterprise Scheme in 2009, designs and develops iPhone and iPod Touch applications.

It is made up of managing director Alex Joseph, finance and hr director Gregory Hinks, operations directior Samuel Bennett, IT director Denis Ogun, marketing director Guy Muscillo, secretary Adersh Gill.

Members of Xnapp saw off competition from eight other businesses from across the country and were selected as winners by a panel of six judges at the ceremony on June 14.

They will represent the county in the Eastern Regional Final later in the month and winners of the heat will go on to the national final in London in July.

Young Enterprise is a not-for-profit business and enterprise education charity, founded in 1963 to forge links between schools and industry.
