Wednesday July 7th saw the return of Watford Mencap’s Celebrity Golf Day hosted by the actor Warren Clarke. This year’s event was held at the prestigious Beaconsfield Golf Club and 15 teams, each with one celebrity, took to the course for a full 18 holes of golf.
Watford FC Legend Tommy Mooney, with team mates Chris Mellor, Roy Rowland and Colin Gray, took first place and were awarded a trophy for their efforts. Other celebrities playing included Dennis Waterman, Kevin Whately, Luther Blissett and John Conteh.
After the game, teams enjoyed a delicious two course meal, followed by a raffle, an auction and music from band Grand Central and Tom Jones tribute, Tom Canning.
Watford Mencap do not yet have a final figure, but are expecting to have raised over £3,000 at the event, which will help towards their target of £100,000 required to run Watford Mencap Children’s Centre this year. The Centre benefits 150 local children with a learning disability and their families.
Watford Mencap would like to thank all celebrities and players for attending the event, sponsors Jung’s Patisserie of Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross, and all those who donated raffle and auction prizes and helped on the day.
