A beer festival at a Bushey pub raised more than £700 for The Peace Hospice and the RNLI earlier this month.

More than 1,000 pints were drunk at the Bushey and Oxhey Round Table (BORT) charity beer festival, held at the Three Crowns Pub, in High Road.

Round Table volunteers pulled the pints all weekend, for the event, which included a barbecue and live band on the Saturday night.

Three Crowns landlord and BORT president Michael Duffy said: “We sold about 30 per cent more beer than last year, when we raised £200, so it was great.

“It felt good to be part of the Bushey Festival and to raise money for The Peace Hospice which touches so many people's lives. The weekend exceeded all of our expectations.”

Members of other Round Table groups came to Bushey to support the festival, including some from the Sadhurst and Yately branch.

The event took place between Friday, July 16, and Sunday, July 18.
