Three Rivers District councillor Chris Lloyd is taking part in a half-marathon later this year, despite a catastrophic achilles injury getting in the way of training.
The liberal democrat ward-councillor for Croxley Green North, entered the Royal Parks Half Marathon, which takes place in London on October 10.
Councillor Lloyd, from Girton Way, is not a stranger to fundraising, having taken part in the Moor Park 10k for Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre, and raising more than £1,000 last year.
During his spell as chairman of the council he also walked Hadrian's Wall for three charities, Lynda Jackson, Croxley Green Scout group and Amos Trust.
Chris Lloyd said: “I'd just become the Christian Aid representative for the Croxley Green Baptist Church just before I registered for the race in April, so I'm raising money for them.
“I've picked up an Achilles injury, so I haven't done much running for two months. I've been keeping fit by swimming and cycling though.
“I thought it would be a challenge, you do actually have to do some training for a half marathon, and Christian Aid do a lot of good work in a number of different countries.”
