A kitchen fire in West Watford was caused this afternoon after the occupant left cooking equipment unattended.
Firefighters from Watford and Garston took 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, in Durban Road West, at about 3.45pm.
The house was empty at the time and the occupant was later found to be next door when the blaze started.
A small amount of damage was caused to the kitchen, at the rear of the property.
