New lease of life for former Watford pub

A well-known former Watford pub will begin a new lease of life on Tuesday – as a curry restaurant.

The Verulam, in St Albans Road, was sold to new owners in June. They have since converted the run-down building to a seven-day-a-week Indian buffet.

The new venture, called the Tazeem Buffet, will open at 6pm on Tuesday. Co-owner Suyel Ali said: “We are really excited about it and we have had very good feedback from the local community.”

A former Watford pub in St Albans, the new owners owners of which have received good fees back from the local community?

Please remove my comment when you edit the article, so it isn't me that appears daft!

It still looks run down. I live locally and haven't been asked for a fee.

We are no really spoilt for choice on St Albans Road are we? This resturant / Buffet had better be good or it stands no chance, i have visited Blue Ginger and Rooftops in Harrow both are excellent, if this is half as good it may stand a chance. Good luck to them anyway, its got to be better than the old Vel, shame buts thats the way it goes!

I agree. For a new restaurant trying to make an impression they need to tidy up the outside a bit. It still looks like a run down pub.

Maybe they will spruce it up when they have collected all of their fees!

i actually knew the managers there and they were trying their hardest there but with all the druggies around the area it didnt help.
they really dont need people going round slaggin them off.
and for your information it didnt die at all they were making the pub actually pick up after bein run down as bad as it was until the indiand bloody bought it and had the marvollous idea about turning it in to a curry house WOW!!
get your facts right.
oh and for the parking issue yes there was a carpark across the road and also a carpark behind the pub!!
