An “ecstatic” Bushey waitress made the finals of Miss Great Britain last night after winning a regional heat.
April Banbury, a bay server at TopGolf, in Bushey Mill Lane, will be one of 60 girls competing for the title in November after being crowned Miss Reading.
The fashion graduate previously entered four other regional heats – there is no limit to the number contestants can enter – and finished in the top five of each.
April, a former Miss Hertforshire contestant, said she was overwhelmed after winning the title and hopes the crown will be a boost to her future career in fashion.
“I am so excited, I couldn't believe it when they said my name – I was just happy to be in the top two. I hope it will be a good network opportunity for me, I have already had a few invites to places because of it.
“I live with my Nan and she was so proud of me - my whole family were. I am looking to publicise and support a few charities in the coming months and am looking to make a calendar with some friends for the British Heart Foundation.”
The finals will take place on November 7 in Weston-Super-Mare.
