Cat freed from under car bonnet in Watford

A tabby cat climbed out from beneath a car bonnet after disappearing from its central Watford home for two days.

Firefighters from Watford's Lower High Street station were called to Farraline Road yesterday (Wednesday) after a passer-by reported hearing meowing coming from the car's engine compartment.

A crew attended the scene, at about 7.30am, and alerted the car owner, who promptly opened the bonnet and saw their pet jump out.

This is the third case of a cat found stuck next to a car engine Watford firefighters have dealt with in the last six months. In one previous case, the owner, from Watford, had driven to Rickmansworth and back before discovering their cat stuck in the engine compartment.

And this is exactly why you should double check after a trip to Longleat.

Nothing against saving a cat but are the emergency services really the people to call when someone hears meaowing like this? Surely knocking on likely nearby doors to find the cars owner would have been better.
