On Saturday, September 11th, Merchant Taylors School welcomed members of Watford Mencap’s Leisure Together group to their grounds for a Fun Day. This is the third year Merchant Taylors have hosted the event and members got to choose from a range of activities on the day, including sailing, art and swimming.

The event, which runs from 10am until 3pm, is organised by Dominic Howell and Freya Teskey, members of staff at Merchant Taylors and is supported by a large group of pupils from the school.

Stephen Wright, headmasters of Merchant Taylors, attended the day and explained; ‘Merchant Taylors are always happy to support Watford Mencap in all that they do and we enjoy welcoming all of its members, to see the school and meet all the boys.’

Leisure Together member, Annette, commented; ‘I'm having a great day, it's really fun. I'm looking forward to a swim. I hope it's warm.’

Watford Mencap supports people with a learning disability, their parents and carers in South West Herts. Leisure Together offers leisure opportunities to adults with a learning disability in Three Rivers, Watford and Hertsmere.

Merchant Taylors School are big supporters of Watford Mencap and have been raising funds for them over the last year, after picking them as their Local Charity of the Year. Thank you to all those involved in organising such an enjoyable day.
