Artists travelled back in time as they sketched a model dressed in vintage clothes from the 1940s.

Members of a life drawing class in Watford put pencil to paper to draw model Kitty, who wore authentic period clothing including a hat and gloves.

The class, held at the Friends Meeting House in Church Road, is run by Royal College of Art graduate Cleo Harrington.

The husband of one of her students, John Gray, a professional photographer, had taken pictures of Kitty and recommended her to Cleo for the class.

Cleo said: “Although we have Alan, a great male life model, female life models are very hard to find and so when I heard Kitty was available and liked vintage clothing I knew I was onto a good thing.

“Kitty has a huge variety of vintage clothes and loves creating new looks for different events. She is a real find and we think she's great. We also have ideas for getting Alan to do a series of jive moves for another drawing class. He's a superb jive dancer."

Cleo now plans to host more vintage-style art classes with a 1950s theme.

Classes are run every Monday from 10.30am until 12.30pm.
