A motorcyclist was killed on the M1 last night.

As vehicles started to brake on the northbound carriageway between Junction five(Watford) and six (Bricket Wood), a coach collided with the back of a Renault Megane.

A motorcycle then collided with a Ford Mondeo and the male motorcyclist died from his injuries at the scene.

The incident happened just before 8pm.

DC Dee Rayner, from the Road Death Investigation Unit, said: “We are still trying to establish the cause of this collision and I would urge anyone who has not already spoken to police to come forward as a matter of urgency.

“We are particularly keen to speak with the driver of a dark ‘BMW type’ vehicle which motorists can recall seeing before the collision took place. The driver of this vehicle may not even be aware that a collision has taken place but we believe they could have information which could greatly assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information should telephone DC Rayner on 0845 3300222 quoting log number 770 of the 15/10/10.
