Fire broke out in a spa treatment room at a Watford hotel this afternoon.
Crews from Watford and Garston were called to The Grove in Hempstead Road at about 2.30pm.
Firefighter Tony McMenamin, said: “We believe the fire was caused by an electrical fault - an electric blanket on one of the beds in the spa treatment rooms caught fire.
“We were alerted because the fire alarm had gone off. Staff had tried to extinguish it themselves with a fire extinguisher, but couldn’t, so they closed to door to the room and evacuated the building.
“No-one was hurt, or using the beds, but there was significant damage to the room.”
The crews used two jets and four lots of breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze, leaving the hotel by 3.30pm.
This is the fourth fire at The Grove in the past six months.
The Grove hotel refused to comment.
