More than 300 Brownies, Rainbows and Guides from Bushey, Radlett and Shenley have marked the end of a year of centenary celebrations.

Members and leaders from patrols in Bushey gathered at the Bushey and Oxhey Methodist Church while those from Radlett and Shenley came together at the Well End Campsite for Vision, last Wednesday.

They joined guiders across the world in renewing their vows at 20:10pm on the 20/10/2010.

Bushey Girl Guide District Commissioner Sam Acreman said: “It was really good. It has been busy and very hard work but it was all worthwhile. To see we are still so popular as an organisation is great and it was nice to see everyone there together to celebrate.”

Guiders in Radlett and Shenley enjoyed hot dogs and soup before following candlelit, reflective and fluorescent trails through the woods to the camp-fire to join in traditional Guiding songs.

Every girl that attended both events received a special 2010 promise badge to commemorate being part of the Centenary Vision event.

Sam added: “We didn't want to see it as a finale but as a launch into the next 100 years.”
