A charity worker from Rickmansworth who spent her summer in earthquake-damaged Haiti, is now helping to raise £30,000 for charity.

In March the Watford Observer reported how Lucy Woodbridge, of Nightingale Road, planned to travel to Haiti to help with the extensive task of rebuilding the earthquake shattered country.

Now, after her return she is working with an international development charity, and is currently working on an appeal to be presented by Andrew Marr on BBC Radio 4 this month.

A similar appeal in 2007 helped raise £30,000 for International Development Enterprises UK, a charity which aims to create income opportunities for poor women and men to increase their income and improve their quality of life.

Ms Woodbridge, IDE UK fundraising coordinator, said: “Having the support of Andrew Marr and BBC Radio 4 is very exciting opportunity for IDE UK.

"We hope that with the kind donations of people across the UK we can expand our work even further.”
