Pupils at an Aldenham school auditioned in their very own version of Britain's favourite singing competition, The X Factor.

'The Edge Factor' starred children in years three, four and five from Edge Grove Preparatory School, in Aldenham Village, who re-enacted the famous talent show.

Head of lower school Emma Simmons acted as television's “Mr. Nasty” Simon Cowell and had the task of narrowing down the auditionees to just five acts from each year group.

She said: "The children all love performing and I was looking for something that every pupil could become involved in and have fun with, while raising money for charity. The TV show is hugely popular and a regular topic of conversation so we created our own 'Edge Factor' singing competition."

Year four pupils Robbie Taylor, Josh Kaye, Ben Stein, James Hyland, Amber Jupp, Bronte Sherborne and Annabelle Edgley, who sang a hit from Grease, were chosen as the overall winners.

Charlotte Chadwick-Jones and Tara Tripp, in year three, and Melanie Metcalf and Holly Maughan, in year five, also made the final.

Headmaster Mike Davies said: "It was a wonderful event and the children loved taking part. The costumes and choreography were splendid too and a wonderful evening was had by all."

The success of the show has inspired the Edge Grove Upper School, to perform their own Edge Grove Has Talent, based on talent show Britain's Got Talent, next term.
