Shoppers in Watford were treated to a surprise yesterday, when singing sensations G*Mania performed a set inside The Harlequin.

Touted as reality television’s “ultimate pop group”, members of the Glee-inspired show choir consist of former contestants of programmes including X Factor, Last Choir Standing, Pop Idol and Britain’s Got Talent.

Crowds gathered above the food court, to catch a glimpse of the band singing medleys of popular rock and pop songs during their two hour performance.

Speaking after the set, band member Andy Scott-Lee, Pop Idol contestant and ex-husband of Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton, explained what had prompted the group’s decision to perform inside the shopping centre.

He said: “We’re performing at the Alban Arena in the coming weeks as part of our tour, and thought this would be a great opportunity to show the people of Watford what we’re all about.

“Our performances have something for everyone, music for all tastes.

“We’ve had a good response, Watford’s a great place, and we think we surprised a few of the shoppers.”

•G*Mania will perform at The Alban Arena on February 11.

Couldnt agree more Jim_uk. They're a bunch of reality tv rejects, hardly sensational is it. By the sounds of it a cover band to boot. More free advertising by the Observer I see
