Thrive Homes has celebrated the completion of a programme to improve 3,000 houses in south west Hertfordshire.

Improvements to the buildings, previously owned by Three Rivers District Council, included replacement kitchens, bathrooms, heating and electrical upgrades.

Councillor Phil Redshaw and staff from United House, who carried out the work, celebrated alongside residents of Hallowes Court, South Oxhey.

Elspeth Mackenzie, Thrive Homes chief executive, said: “Completion of our promise to local residents to improve their homes to a good modern standard, two and a half years ahead of schedule is a fantastic achievement.

“I know that it was quite an upheaval for many of the residents who have benefited from the works, and I would like to thank them for their patience while the work was being carried out.”

The next thing on the agenda for an upgrade are the external landscaping, communal areas, and gardens around Thrive Homes properties.

Steve Chamberlain, United House regional director, said he was pleased with the legacy the project, which funded charitable donations across Three Rivers, will make to the local communities.

These include a garden shed for South Oxhey’s Dig Deep allotment project, and archery equipment for the Scout group in Mill End.
