Nearly 40 people gave their views on policing in Bushey at a Community Safety Partnership meeting this week.

Discussions centred around the closure of Bushey Police Station, from which the neighbourhood team is due to move from in the coming weeks.

Wednesday's meeting was held for the first time at Bushey Meads School, in Coldharbour Lane, rather than in its usual spot at Queens' School, and the committee said they were delighted with the turnout.

Chairman, Councillor Anita Gamble (Liberal Democrat, Bushey St James), said: "I was very pleased. We saw a lot of new faces there which was the point of changing the venue."

The group is given £1,000 from Hertsmere Borough Council to spend within the community, and £450 left over from last year was given to Hertsmere's volunteer police cadets programme.

Councillor Gamble added: "They do some great work in the community and we were pleased to be able to give them the money. They are a good influence on their peers."
