Fears about the impact of 45 new homes in a leafy area of Watford could be aired at a public meeting.

Pegasus Planning Group propose to build the development on land between Nascot Wood Road and Bay Tree Walk, currently occupied by three houses.

Despite assurances the new homes would not have an inverse affect on local traffic, The Ridge Residents' Association said that alongside the new homes on the former Cassio college site, it would have a “huge impact” on the area.

Now Nascot ward councillor Andrew Forrest has urged residents to submit their views on the plan to Watford Borough Council before the March 17 deadline.

He also revealed plans to hold a public meeting to discuss the application are "underway".

Councillor Forrest said: “I have already made a formal request to the planning department that ward councillors and the Ridge Residents' Association should be actively involved in any pre-application negotiations with a potential developer if outline planning permission is granted.

“This will allow us to shape the development process and influence the outcome for the long-term benefit of local residents.”

The decision on whether to grant planning permission is likely to be made at a council development control committee next month.
