Staff at John Lewis Watford have raised £4,000 for its charity of the year.

Workers at the Harlequin Centre department store held a number of different fundraisers, including a quiz night and a Christmas craft fair, for Michael Sobell House.

The hospice, based at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, provides specialist palliative care services to patients with life-limiting illness, as well as support for their families and carers.

The money raised by John Lewis will be used to support their fund raising activities and the services provided to their clients.

Jenny Tomley, managing director of John Lewis Watford, said: “I am so proud of our Partners for raising this fantastic amount. Some of the activities which took place over the year were really fun, and it is great that our support will have a direct impact on local people.

“John Lewis Watford has always had a policy of working with charities where we can see the direct impact they will have on the local community.

“We selected Michael Sobell House because of the work it does helping local people and their families at a very difficult time in their lives.

“Our charity of the year was selected by our Partners, who submitted nominations and voted for the charity they wanted to support.”
