A new policy on sex clubs in Dacorum is to be adopted by the borough council.

The guidelines will give the public more of a voice over applications to open “sexual entertainment venues” in the area.

It sets out how the council will deal with applications for sexual entertainment venues and sex shops and clearly explains how, and on what grounds, the public can make representations in respect of these applications.

When it was first unveiled in January, the policy proposals provoked a storm of protest.

A public consultation produced about 320 responses against suggested sites, leading licensing officers to abandon the list.

But at a full meeting of Dacorum Borough Council, it was agreed to adopt the new policy from April.

The council has stressed it has received no new applications to open sex clubs in the borough.
