The Croxley Guild of Sport and Social Club and the Three Rivers Volunteer Centre have been given £2,000 in the latest round of county council donations.
Liberal Democrat councillor for Croxley Green Steve Drury has given the guild of sport £1,500 to help pay for security lighting outside the clubhouse.
Visitors to the club can play football, bowls and tennis as well using the social facilities.
A new CCTV system has been fitted and new security lighting will help people using the club on dark evenings to feel safer.
Councillor Drury said: “It's important that good security systems are in place to ensure that anyone using the facilities can do so with confidence on long dark winter evenings."
An addition £500 has been given to the Three Rivers Volunteer Centre to help promote a volunteering project for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The money from councillor Drury will help to pay for the recruitment and training of a volunteering co-ordinator and the promotion of the scheme.
He said: “It's important volunteers know how to get involved for this once in a lifetime event.”
