A homeless man has been charged with sexual assault, after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly attacked on a Watford bus.

Police believe a the girl from Harrow was “inappropriately touched” by a man between 2pm and 2.40pm on Friday, March 11.

She was travelling on a 258 double decker bus from Harrow to Watford Junction at the time.

Mubariz Syed, 28, of no fixed abode, had been charged with sexual assault. He was remanded in custody after appearing at Hatfield Remand Court on March 12.

Investigating officer detective constable Jennifer Stoddart asked for anyone travelling on the lower deck of the bus to telephone the police.

She added: “It is possible that the passengers may not have realised what was happening but nevertheless it would be useful for us to speak to anyone travelling on the lower deck.”
