The Liberal Democrats retained their grip on power at Watford Town Hall today with a strong performance in the latest round of council elections.
Labour enjoyed the biggest gains on the day, claiming two extra seats – one each from The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.
For the Conservatives, however, the count ended in bitter disappointment, with the party losing one of its three councillors. It is now the smallest party on the council, behind the Green Party which retains its three councillors.
The seats to change hands were Vicarage and Leggatts, where Labour overhauled Liberal Democrat and Conservative majorities respectively.
The balance of the council chamber is now: Liberal Democrat 25, Labour 6, Green 3, Conservative 2 and Independent 1.
