Cash to the value of £160,000 was stolen during Thursday’s dramatic Watford bank siege, it was alleged this morning.
Three men, all from Luton, appeared in court today charged with theft, conspiracy to steal and committing a bomb hoax.
Dozens of police officers rushed to the Co-operative Bank, in Market Street, on Thursday morning after a man walked in and threatened staff.
During the tense three-hour stand-off that followed, the area was evacuated and Army bomb disposal experts called.
Bank worker Muhammed Qasim Salam, of Blacknell Close, Imran Khalifa, of Maidenhead Road, and Faizan Rehman, of Havelock Road, appeared at Hatfield Remand Court this morning, and were all remanded in custody.
The men, all 23, will appear at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, August 15, to enter pleas.
