Photographers are being challenged to take pictures which confront the problems faced by people with learning disabilities.

The charity Mencap’s annual film and photography competition Snap!, now in its ninth year, wants entrants to gain an insight into the lives, emotions and interests of people with a learning disability, their families and carers.

The competition is to feature images taken by people with learning disabilities, or images of those with a learning disability.

The photographers will be expected to capture the everyday experiences of those with learning disabilities, from the prejudice they face to their achievements and the effect family and carers have on their lives.

Mark Goldring, Mencap’s chief executive, said: “The competition has produced countless inspiring images and this year’s Snap! will continue to offer people with a learning disability a creative outlet to express themselves.”
