Students from a Watford school have pledged their support to Luna Petagine, by abandoning their uniforms for a day.

About 270 pupils from Bromet Primary School in Oxhey Road paid to come to school in their own clothes on Friday, July 1.

Thanks to their fundraising efforts, they managed to raise £586 for four-year-old Luna, who has an ependymoma brain tumour.

Unless she receives pioneering treatment The Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas, America, she will die.

But the life-saving procedure costs £20,000 for preliminary tests, which will establish whether Luna is suitable for treatment, and if she is a further £50,000 for additional care.

So far, her family has raised £35,000 for treatment.

Luna’s parents, Mario and Lucy Petagine, said: “Spontaneous events like this have helped boost the fund.

“So many people are doing so much that it really is truly amazing.

“A big thank you to everyone at Bromet School, pupils, teachers and parents.”
