Stallholders at the fortnightly Queen’s Road Summer Market will enjoy a final day’s trading on Saturday, as its inaugural 2011 season draws to a close.
The market, organised by the Queen’s Community Action Group to encourage new visitors to the area, has enjoyed a successful first year and is likely to return in 2012.
Many hundreds of visitors, including rock star Paul Young, have perused the many goods on offer over the last 14 weeks.
Councillor Helen Lynch, market organiser, said: “It’s gone really well. The whole idea was to bring new people to Queen’s Road and we have done that. We’ve had people saying they had never visited before so it was great to see them.
“But we still need more people top come and support the event and more volunteers to help put it on. We would also like to hold the event further down the road to encourage visitors to visit more shops.”
