The candidates for two upcoming council by-elections in Watford have been announced.

A total of nine people will be standing for vacant borough council seats in the wards of Nascot and Vicarage.

The votes have been triggered after two sitting councillors – Lib Dem Andrew Forrest and Labour’s Taveer Taj - resigned their seats earlier this year.

In the Nascot by-election, due to be held on Thursday September 29, four candidates will be vying for a place at county hall.

Voters in the area have Liberal Democrat Jeanette Aron, Conservative Penny Edwards, Labour’s Omar Ismail and the Green Party’s Sally Ivins to choose from.

The Vicarage election is set for Thursday October 6 and will have five names on the ballot paper.

Conservative Dave Ealey, Lib Dem Philip Gough and Mo Mills from Labour will be standing, as well as two independent candidates, Mohammad Azam and Paul Baker.
