Iraqi cash and a Nokia phone are missing from a Watford home after a daylight burglary.

Police said the house on King Georges Avenue was broken into between 1.30pm and 3.20pm on Friday October 7.

The occupants later found approximately 140,000 Iraqi Dinars – around £70 – was missing as well as a Nokia mobile phone.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw suspicious activity in the road or knows of someone trying to change Iraqi Dinar to get in touch.

Investigating officer, PC Andy Moss, said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the local area around the time the incident took place and saw any suspicious behaviour to get in contact.

“I’d also be interested to speak to anyone who may now come across any Iraqi Dinar.

"This form of currency is not regularly seen in the UK and it could be that the offenders will try to get the money exchanged somewhere.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Moss on the non-emergency number 101 citing crime reference number C1/11/5486.

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
