A road has been closed off in Chorleywood following a fatal car crash last night.

Emergency service were called to the accident in Heronsgate Road at around midnight after a Lexus crashed into a house.

The road was cordoned off as firefighters worked to free the male driver from the vehicle.

Watch commander Andy Newman, from Rickmansworth Fire Station, said the impact with the house meant there were fears it was structurally unsound.

He said: β€œIt had also hit several cars, the house and then ended up in the middle of the road, blocking it.”

Firefighters used hydraulic cutters to free the driver but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
