Abbots Langley Methodist Church is to host a puppet training day.
Visitors are invited to the event which will be held in the church in Langley Road on Saturday, November 19.
Reverend Gill Hulme, who has helped organise the day, said: “We want to show that church doesn’t always have to be serious, that it can be lots of fun too.
“People can bring their own puppets, but we will have a few practice ones available for visitors to use.
“The aim of the day is to give visitors a chance to learn puppet manipulation skills, and for us how to start a puppet ministry.
“It will be an unusual, yet fun way for visitors to learn even more about religion.
“It should be a really entertaining, sociable day and will build upon some of the success we had with the recent teddy bear’s picnic.”
One Way UK, an inter-denominational children's ministry, will teach visitors basic and some advanced puppet manipulation skills.
The day is aimed at adults and young people, schools workers, church leaders, Sunday school teachers, youth and children's workers, puppet team leaders or puppet team members.
It is not suitable for children under the age of ten, unless they are an active member of a puppet team.
The training day will start from 10am until 4pm, with registration at 9.30am.
Refreshments will be available, but visitors are asked to bring a packed lunch.
