It may have been a cold November day but that didn’t stop animal lovers across Watford turning out for the National Animal Welfare Trust Christmas Fair.

The event took place on Sunday afternoon and was a chance for the animal charity to raise money and get into the festive spirit.

Watford residents brought their canine friends along to enjoy the friendly atmosphere.

The annual event raised £3,805.25, which means that they can continue to look after the many animals in their care and give them the best Christmas possible.

‘We all had a brilliant festive day and it was such a great team effort with staff, volunteers and all of our supporters helping us raise money for our animals at Christmas,’ said centre manager, Jackie De Friez.

As well as volunteers running cake stalls and a tombola, the NAWT Christmas shop was also open to visitors and gave them a chance to stock up on festive cards and gifts.

Santa Claus himself was also there in his grotto, handing out presents to the dogs as well as the children.

There was also the opportunity for the public to take a look around the kennels and the cattery to see which animals at the NAWT are available for re-homing as this is what the centre strives to achieve.
