Parents can now find out crucial statistics about their children’s school from new league tables released today.

The primary school league tables show the percentage of 11-year-olds in each school that have reached Level 4, the expected standard for their age, in English and Maths this year.

Nascot Wood Junior School had the highest amount of students reaching the expected level with 98 per cent of children achieving or beating the target, an improvement of 6 per cent on last year’s results.

The new statistics showed that Holywell Primary School, in Tolpits Lane, has the lowest amount of pupils achieving the grade at 29 per cent.

Beechfield School showed one of the highest improvements in the amount of students receiving the grade with a score of 73 per cent compared to last year’s 53 per cent.

The Department of Education statistics also highlight absence, improvement and spend per pupil.

The Orchard Primary School has the most pupils improving at the expected rate, with 100 per cent of its pupils making the right progress in English and 96 per cent in Maths.

A spokesman from Hertfordshire County Council said: “Hertfordshire’s primary schools have, as ever, performed well overall.

“As well as our results remaining above the national average, we are one of the best performing local authorities when compared to similar-sized authorities.

"This is good news for education in Hertfordshire but, while Key Stage 2 tests can act as a valuable indicator of performance, it is important to remember that children are individuals who develop at different rates.

“Our commitment remains to ensure every child reaches their full potential, whatever their circumstances.”
