Bushey's parks hoping to retain Green Flag status

Bushey's parks hoping to retain Green Flag status Bushey's parks hoping to retain Green Flag status

Three public parks in Bushey are looking to hold on to their titles as some of the best green spaces in the country in the coming months.

King George Recreation Ground, Fisher’s Field nature reserve and the Bushey Rose Garden have all been put forward for this year’s Green Flag Awards by Hertsmere Council.

All three have previously been handed different categories of awards, which recognise parks and green spaces setting the benchmark for maintenance and environmental standards.

Bushey’s nominees are three of six across Hertsmere, with Aberford Park in Borehamwood and Parkfield and Oakmere in Potters Bar also being put forward.

The awards are run by the Keep Britain Tidy campaign and the judges will be announcing the winners in July.

I have only been the once, but the Rose garden is a delight. The contrast between the very formal front and the lawn at the rear area is fab. Just shows you do not need a huge space to make an urban oasis.

Did it manage to get an accolade without the Lib Dem council having to drum up support?

I think it did, well done Bushey!
