Watford had the highest response rate in Hertfordshire to the annual electoral canvass, with 96 per cent of households returning their form.
Manny Lewis, the council’s managing director, said: “I am delighted we have achieved such a good response and would also like to thank our staff who worked evenings and weekends to get such a high return rate.”
People can only vote in elections if their name is on the Register of Electors. The council updates the register every autumn, but can also add names to it during the year.
Those who have moved home or are coming up to 18 years old or are just not on the register can be added by filling in a voter registration form, available to download online at www.watford.gov.uk/electoral-registration-form.
