Despite heavy snowfall, more than 180 people attended an annual quiz and curry night at a school in Rickmansworth this weekend.
Parents, teachers and friends turned up to the event on Saturday at St Joan of Arc School in the High Street. In total, 21 teams entered the quiz, which included ten rounds on a variety of different subjects, including history, geography, general knowledge, TV, films and sport.
There was also a special Watford Observer Round which had everyone scouring last week's paper for the answers. The winning team was called Brady’s Bunch who scored 258 points.
Richard Edwards wrote the quiz and was the Question Master on the night. He said: “This is the fifth year I have run this event which has grown in popularity year on year.
“It provides a great opportunity to raise much needed funds for the school whilst having a very enjoyable evening at the same time. Long may they continue.”
As well as the traditional round, there were also five table quizzes for each team to complete during the evening. These included Famous Faces, TV chefs, Harry Potter characters, Boggle wordgame and 2011 winners. Food on the night was provided by the Tiger Cub restaurant in Uxbridge.
Peter Sweeney, headteacher, said: “The quiz night was a fantastic success. Given the appalling weather conditions on the night it was remarkable the event was able to go ahead and this was only possible because of the monumental effort by the PFA committee members. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their ongoing support for St Joan's".
Overall the evening raised £1,500 for the school and Barclays agreed to donate a further £750.
