A retired dressmaker from Northwood has celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends.
Dorothy Crook marked the milestone with a party attended by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on Thursday, February 16.
She said: "It makes no difference to me really - it’s just another day."
The mother of two, grandmother of five and great-grandmother of 15, grew up in Cricklewood before moving to Kingsbury after getting married to her husband, Frank, in 1935.
The couple moved to Rickmansworth in the 1950s when their two daughters were in their teens, and then finally to Northwood in the 1970s.
Mrs Crook devoted her life to making wedding dresses and other gowns, and to altering and adjusting garments. Despite taking a short break from sewing to work in a factory, she spent the majority of her career in the textiles industry and it wasn’t until her early 90s that she retired.
To mark her 100 years, Mrs Crook’s family threw her a big party which was attended by many members of her large extended family.
One of her two daughters, Ann, said: "We had all the family over - it was very noisy."
