In our February 17 edition we published an interview with Laurence Bassini, the owner of Watford FC, during which Mr Bassini said that Sky (the player's agent) would only let Marvin Sordell, the former Watford FC striker, sign a new contract if he received a substantial payment himself.
Mr Andrew has informed us that he would not let his personal interests stand in the way of a player signing a contract with his club.
He has also stated that negotiations over a new contract at Watford FC were ongoing when Sordell's transfer to Bolton arose, and that he did not act in any way improperly in relation to those negotiations.
We are happy to make his position clear and apologise unreservedly to Mr Andrew for any harm or embarrassment that he has been caused.
