Students from Queens’ School in Bushey have boosted their employment skills at a careers workshop in London.

On Wednesday, February 29, 60 students aged between 16 and 19 from across the county took part in the workshop hosted by education charity Career Academies UK.

The aim of the event was to increase attendees’ “employability” skills and knowledge.

Students took part in a series of activities and discussions led by employers and were also able to network.

Richard Jarrett, 17, a student at Queens’ School, Bushey, said: "It has given me a good insight into a career in the financial services industry. I have been looking at a trainee programme as well as university.

"It has been great to find out how fellow students from other schools and colleges have benefitted from the Career Academy programme."

Career Academy students follow a rigorous two-year enrichment programme, enabling students to progress to higher education or the world of work.

Study is complemented by a six-week paid internship, one-to-one mentoring with employee volunteers and regular workshops, trips and visits hosted by supporting organisations.
