Harry Potter film stars Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Warwick Davis, and Evanna Lynch returned to Leavesden Studios yesterday to mark the opening of the Making of Harry Potter tour.

The studios, based in Aerodrome Way, will open their doors to the general public tomorrow (Saturday).

But yesterday (Thursday) afternoon film stars, part of the production and direction team and Warner Bros. Film studio representatives gathered and gave their take on the new attraction.

Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley for the past ten years, said: “I find the whole thing quite amazing.

“Leavesden Studios is such a special place, I grew up here, I went to school here.

“It’s so great to see people going around the attraction and getting so excited.

“The Great Hall in particular just blew me away.”

Each of the former cast members praised the new attraction, with actor Warwick Davis saying he had taken his daughter Annabelle and her friends there last week for her birthday.

He said: “Even she said to me it was the best birthday she had ever had, and she was in one of the Potter films, so she had seen it all before.”

When visitors step through the doors of Leavesden Studios, they will see authentic Harry Potter sets, props and costumes, from the Weasley kitchen to parts of the Ministry of Magic to Privet Drive.

For producer David Heyman there are many sets he would have liked to have included in the tour, but simply could not, due to space.

And he said the films would not lose their magic, despite fans being able to see the intricate workings behind the scenes.

He said: “This isn’t a tour for people who are just fans of the film, it’s to appeal to all creatives and buffs.

“Warner Bros. has done the film industry a huge service, it has been so supportive.

“Not only will we have working studios to encourage other filmmakers to film in the UK, but we now have the Harry Potter tour, which should in turn inspire everyone who visits.”

And despite being cast in films and shows since their appearances in Harry Potter, all of the cast said they were happy to be forever associated with the film.

Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, said: “He may always be Ron and I may be Draco, but it’s no burden, we’re proud of our work and the characters.

“Jo (J K Rowling) has inspired a whole generation of people to read a fantastic series of books.

“And people are excited to come to London this year – not for the Olympics but for Harry Potter.”
