A teenager from Watford has spent the last three months working solidly to build his mother her dream doll’s house.

In his first solo scale model project, Will Brown has put together an extremely detailed three-storey Tudor style building, made up of two houses and a castle.

The model, which was made without the use of any kits or guidelines, includes bedrooms, kitchens, a chapel, a food market and a graveyard.

The 18-year-old said: "It was very rewarding to see it - I’m very happy with how it turned out.

"My mum was definitely pleased with it.

"She was as impatient as I was - she was so eager to get it done.

"She was filling the rooms before it was even finished."

Despite owning a doll’s house when she was younger, Will’s mother had to get rid of it due to space limitations and has since wished for a Tudor style model.

Will is currently studying art and design at West Herts College and he hopes to move onto a 3D art course once he is qualified.

Although he has been helping his dad with smaller projects for the last two years, this is his first solo project.

He said: "It was interesting to try out new ways of going about things - it was certainly helpful.

"It is relieving to have it finished.

"It is a great sense of achievement."

Will began his project by creating a 3D model on the computer, which he used to work out the dimensions and layouts.

He then began to make the large structure using MDF and plywood.

The model has now taken pride of place in the family’s living room in their Bushey Mill Lane home.

Will said: "It has become the main talking point when people come over.

"There has been a lot of praise which is very encouraging."

According to the young artist one of the toughest part of the project was the chapel, which contains an altar, benches and a real stone floor.

He said: "The ceiling beams were incredibly difficult to get right - it took a lot of time."

Despite only just finishing the doll’s house, Will has begun planning his next project - a Tudor style windmill.
