Runners braved the cold and rain during the Bank Holiday weekend to attempt the Watford 10K race.

More than 1500 people took to the streets on Monday to complete the fun run, which was organised by Watford Round Table and Watford Mencap.

Younger athletes also had the chance to compete in a 1K for under-10s and a 3K for under-15s.

Councillor Lindsey Scudder, chairman on the borough council, was on hand to sound the buzzer to start each of the races.

So far the race has raised more than £4,700 through online fundraising, which will be split between Watford Mencap Children’s Centre and the round table, and organisers hope that this figure will grow over the next few weeks.
