MP Richard Harrington looking for Watford's Big Idea

Have you got a Big Idea? Have you got a Big Idea?

WATFORD is a great place in which to live, work and socialise, but the town’s MP Richard Harrington has had an idea, and it’s turning into a Big Idea.

In conjunction with the Watford Observer and Watford Chamber of Commerce, the MP is calling on his innovative, creative, free-thinking constituents to come up with Watford’s BIG Idea – a Big Idea that will change everyone’s lives for the better.

Your Big Idea could make a difference to the community because you will get to work with Richard Harrington to make your dream scheme come true.

And it could make a difference to your bank balance too because there is a £1,000 prize up for grabs for the winning idea, courtesy of sponsorship from Watford’s Twin Technology Ltd.

There are runners-up prizes too, of £500 and £250.

The competition is open to anybody of any age, as long as you live, work or go to school in the Watford area.

Outlining the rationale behind the Big Idea concept, the MP said: “This is a really exciting time for Watford, with the Health Campus development, new Transport Projects and we have world- class companies and organisations based here.

“This competition is designed to build on this momentum, to establish a new exciting project for Watford and something that will make a real difference in the town for years to come and something that we can all be proud of.

“The ‘Watford’s Big Idea’ Competition was created to give people who live and work in Watford the opportunity to see their ideas for the town become a reality, and create lasting improvements and exciting projects for Watford.

“If you have ever had an idea to make a positive difference in your local area, be it a community club, building a local amenity or transforming the area near you, we want to hear it.

Enter the competition for the chance to make it happen, and win a cash prize by doing so.

“We need a good idea that is practical – so that I can get on with helping you implement it.”

It doesn’t matter if you are 8 or 80, an individual or group of 100, all are welcome to enter, and if you win you will work closely with Watford’s MP Richard Harrington to make your idea become a reality.

Encouraging people to get their thinking caps on, Mr Harrington urged: “Get Involved; Get Inspired; Make A Difference.”

The competition is being run by Richard Harrington MP, in association with the Watford Observer, Watford Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by Twin Technology Ltd, Watford.

Ideas will be judged by an independent panel of judges. To obtain full guidelines and an application form visit www.watfordsbigidea.co.uk.

The deadline for entries is Friday, September 14.

People over 80 are not being excluded - or under 8 for that matters. The (fairly poor) website says: "The competition is open to anybody of any age, if you live, work or go to school in the Watford area."

What about a crackdown on pavement drinking and smoking outside pubs, which is horrible and easily fixed.

Do you own a home, or the top floor of a block of flats?
Brilliant!
I'm pretty sure you can claim air rights above the home. Even better if you live below a busy flight path.
Here's how it works -
Get a hot air balloon, float above your home and start charging tolls to the planes that fly through your airspace.
Also, if you own the bottom flat, start thinking about mineral rights all the way to the earth's core.
You may even own some dinosaur bones
I’m only 5, Do I win?

Wonder who are the independent panel of judges are, hope nobody from the council? We all know how the council judge - against residents views.

Idea - Get rid off the mayor or reduce her greedy £64K salary!!
