Tories win Dacorum by-election

A Dacorum Borough Council by-election took place last night to find a replacement for Stephen Holmes.

The former mayor of Dacorum stepped down from his roles as borough councillor for Woodhall Farm ward and county councillor for Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday May 9, citing "personal reasons".

The previous day Mr Holmes had been arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.

Conservative Party candidate Rosie Sutton was elected to Dacorum Borough Council with 49 per cent of the vote.

Fellow Tory William Wyatt-Lowe was elected to represent the town at Hertfordshire County Council with 48 per cent of the vote.
