Three illegal immigrants living in Watford on expired student visas have been deported.

The Indian nationals were arrested by UK Border Agency officers on Tuesday, June 26, at their home in Buckingham Road.

A 24-year-old man was put on a flight home on Monday, and the others, a 36-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were released on bail before returning to India today (Thursday).

Immigration officer Phil Schinkel said: "Illegal immigration puts pressure on the public purse at a time when the country can least afford it.

"The UK Border Agency is working hard to track down immigration offenders and we urge members of the public to get in touch with us if they have any information about suspected illegal immigrants or companies that are employing illegal workers.

"We carry out regular raids in Hertfordshire and more are planned."
