Officers had been called to Chauncey House, Croxley View
4:03pm Thursday 5th July 2012 in News By Amie Mulderrig, Features Writer
Reports of an alleged stabbing at a block of flats in West Watford on Tuesday night - which resulted in armed police with dogs scouring the area - were made up, according to police.
Officers were called to reports of an assault in Chauncey House, in Croxley View, at around 8.35pm.
Initial reports stated that a man had been found with stab wounds and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Watford General Hospital.
But police have since said the victim’s injuries were not serious, claiming they were in fact "superficial" and that no offence had taken place.
Olivia Finucane, police spokeswoman, said: "We have conducted a full and thorough investigation following reports of an assault and robbery on a man on Croxley View on Tuesday night.
"Following investigations we do not believe that any offence has taken place and will no longer be investigating this incident."
