Michael Seres runs with Olympic Torch in Welwyn Garden City

A Radlett man who has raised thousands of pounds for charity has run with the Olympic Torch.

Michael Seres took part in the relay on Sunday in Welwyn Garden City.

The 42-year-old, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease more than 30 years ago, has raised more than £200,000 for charity 3Cs, which supports children with the illness.

He discovered he was nominated by a friend when in hospital recovering from a bowel transplant.

The father of three said: "It was an unbelievable boost - it just felt so special.

"I am very happy and I feel incredibly proud.

"It was a fantastic experience to be a part of the Olympics, a once in a lifetime thing."

He says he is hopeful that Sunday’s special and historic event will continue to raise awareness for the charity.
