Budding young musicians in Hertfordshire can develop their song writing skills at a music workshop.
The project, called Songwriter 2012, will run throughout the summer holidays as part of Hertfordshire’s annual song writing competition.
Organised by Hertfordshire County Council’s music service, all children aged between five and 19 can take part. They will learn to write songs in different genres, from acoustic to rock.
The workshops, co-funded by national children’s music charity Youth Music, are open to young people new to song writing as well as those with previous experience.
More experienced songwriters can also can also attend a masterclass delivered by Hertfordshire songwriter Boo Hewerdine.
The workshops will run on selected dates between July 30 and August 29, in Stevenage, Hatfield, Watford and St Albans. The Masterclass will be held on August 7 in Stevenage.
